Welcome to the Second Preview of Agon: Rebirth of the Hellenes!

We've been hard at work and have made a lot of progress, so today is the day when we show off some new work.

First off is a large amount of 2d work done by Lewagal for the Dorian culture:

Next, a small glimpse of some new portraits, again created by Lewagal. For the first a Rome: Total War portrait was used as a base to convert it into an Illyrian one as you might have noticed. The second was created by coloring the bust of Periander.

We also have some new screenshots of our campaign map. Charred_Monkey has been working hard on getting the regions and terrain finalized. For now we are ready to reveal some screenshots of the Peloponnesian area:













There's also some new information we have to reveal about the campaign map. First of all, we've finalized the use of religion slots. Although they won't be filled by religions, but rather by cultures. The cultures are the following:

• Doric
• Ionian
• North-West Greek
• Aeolic
• Anatolian
• Persian
• Geto-Thracian
• Illyrian

Next, a lot of people have been asking about the Olympics. We can't reveal how they'll be implemented at this point, but we can assure we will try our best to include them. As soon some solid information about them becomes available we will reveal it.

We also revised and finalized the faction list slightly. We have some slots left which will be saved in case of need in the future. The faction list is as following:

Archaic Spartan Hoplites:






All Spartan citizens, before the Lycourgus reforms, were called "Homoioi'' (meaning equals). Now "Homoioi" refers to Dorian citizens of Sparta with full citizen rights on the contrary with the mixed Dorian-Achaean new citizens.

Within Lakedaemonian society they were honored for their martial skill, second only to the Hippeis, the Spartan king's elite bodyguard".

Their continuous and heavy training made them not only excellent hoplites, but also capable of wearing a full bronze Archaic armor, composed of a Corinthian, Greco-Illyrian or Corintho-Illyrian helmet, the famous aspis shield, greaves and a bell cuirass, and armed with a long spear and the famous short Spartan sword.

While not very numerous, the Homoioi were known throughout Greece for their superiority on the battlefield, making all of Sparta's enemies think twice before attacking them.

Equipped with 11 unique shields these hoplites will be amongst the most valued units of the Archaic era.
